Over the last 10 years, we have repaired and rebuilt over 4,500 homes. The size and scope of projects have evolved over the years, but the heart has stayed the same. 'Building flourishing communities', has become much more than just a tagline. It’s who we are. The last 10 years have been a journey of self-discovery as much as anything else. A journey which has led to this point in time, where we see our responsibility to be part of the solution to the relentless advance of social and economic displacement.

Homes have always been at the centre of who we are and what we do. As a response to the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes, we started helping families made homeless by repairing and rebuilding homes in our city and now it’s building new homes for the 22,000 plus families on the national housing waitlist.

While each and every project has been meaningful in its own way, there have been some standout projects that reflect key milestones for us on our journey to build flourishing communities.

Barbadoes Street
After completing thousands of home repairs, Barbadoes St was the first new-build we delivered for Kāinga Ora.

Farnborough Crescent
Our team expanded into Auckland and Farnborough Crescent was the first project we delivered consisting of 10 new two and four-bedroom homes.

High Street, Rangiora
The largest development of its type ever undertaken by Kāinga Ora in North Canterbury, involved building 28 purpose-built homes for the elderly. This project won Excellence at the 2020 Property Council Awards and was the Grand Prix winner of the 34^th Dulux Colour awards.

Wordsworth / Awakino
This 45-home development in Manurewa for Kāinga Ora is our largest project delivered to date. A large development of two and three-level homes.

Victoria Jordan
We took an innovative step into the future of construction through modular prefabricated three-story apartments in Onehunga. These new construction methods are producing valuable advancements for our team and the industry as a whole. We’re taking key learnings into future projects.

Jackson Street, Wellington
A building with a bit of history, this 12-home apartment block in Petone, Lower Hutt marked the start of our journey in Wellington. The apartment complex was fully stripped back and rebuilt to warm and modern standards. A truly transformational project.

Parkview at Faringdon
Our team has had a long-standing dream since its inception to build and sell our own affordable homes. This project marked the first full end-to-end development as we sold direct to the market from only $399,000.

Brookfield Onehunga
We pushed the envelope, working hard to balance efficiency and cost, with design and enhanced standards for healthy homes. This project sets a new benchmark for beautiful, well-designed social housing.

While this is not an exhaustive list and there are many more projects and stories worth mentioning, we are most excited about what is ahead. There is no shortage of good work to be done and families to house.

We will continue to focus and specialise in social and affordable housing projects. Projects that contribute to the well-being of local communities. Projects that embrace innovation and challenge the status quo.

We are Kiwis and when we are faced with problems, we find solutions. We use what we have and do what we can. This problem in front of us needs some Kiwi-ingenuity and if, as a country, we can find a way to launch rockets into space and build race-winning yachts, then we can work towards solving the housing crisis in Aotearoa.
